Charlton Chic

Watch out Paris here comes Charlton! We've entered the age of the pavement cafe and Charlton's never far behind the curve of fashion and culture.

The valley cafe's popped a table on the street outside it's window.

While I'm on the subject of the cafe they do do a very good cooked breakfast, a great thing the morning after the night before.

Hmmm...apart from the scrambled eggs which are totally overdone, the tea which is far too bitter, and the toast which is half-burnt, oh and of course the totally indifferent service.

But the bacon was good.

Chu & Cho is far, far better but unfortunately they don't do breakfast.

I've never had the scrambled eggs myself, more a fan of the fried variety.

I'll agree that the service isn't fantastic but I've enjoyed the breakfasts that I've had there.

As for Chu & Cho's, I haven't been for a while. The last couple of times I was kind of dissapointed, they just weren't as good as they used to be now they've got the new management and menu. I should bite the bullet and try one final time though.

Incidentally the cafe on the pavement probably has more to do with the new smoking laws than a desire to emulate Paris! We noticed our local caff has one too!

Whilst on cafe society, anyone have an idea of what's happening on to the 3 retail units on church lane just past the music shop? fingers crossed for somewhere to get a nice coffee etc. Doesn't have to be too fancy just be nice to not have to go to greenwich or blackheath....
